About:

Jay has worked broadly in private assets since 2006. He oversees the financial operations of the firm and its investment funds, as well as compliance, legal, tax planning and structuring, and investment team support. Jay is often a resource to PeakSpan’s entrepreneurs and their management teams.

Before joining PeakSpan, Jay worked at The Carlyle Group in its Global Market Strategies segment, where he primarily focused on distressed and mezzanine debt strategies. He also championed the firm’s SSAE 16 SOC 1 report and was part of the initial FATCA Compliance Team. Prior to Carlyle, Jay worked at Ernst & Young LLP, where he was the lead manager on four clients in the asset management practice, including one of Ernst & Young’s Office of the Chairman accounts. During his tenure at Ernst & Young, Jay was selected to participate in a firm shared-resource exchange with the São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil offices to help bring the firm’s best practices and knowledge to newly developing regions.

Jay is a Certified Public Accountant in New York, a CFA® charterholder, and a Certified Financial Planner™. He graduated magna cum laude from Pace University, where he earned MBAs in Accounting and Financial Management along with a BBA in Accounting. Jay resides in Northern New Jersey with his wife and two children. He enjoys playing and coaching sports, spending time with family, and traveling the world.

What makes you excited to come to work each day at this stage of your career?

Honestly, working with a group of stellar team members who are mission-oriented and highly motivated to achieve the goals we collectively set out is what excites me most. I also very much enjoy working with our entrepreneurs and their management teams, as their passion is contagious.

What’s a project or moment at PeakSpan where your involvement changed a company’s trajectory?

Mine may be a bit different, as it relates to the initial formation of PeakSpan, where we still utilize many of the original processes and controls today. We have continually elevated our workflows and built on that foundation.
