Evan joined PeakSpan Capital as the firm's first-ever technology intern in the summer of 2023 and is based in Greenville, South Carolina. He graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University with a B.S. in Computer Science in just five semesters. At Clemson, he created and led the introductory Python curriculum as Head Teaching Assistant, raced on the sailing team, played bass, and served as Vice President of Clemson Blockchain.
At PeakSpan, Evan works across proprietary platform development, competitive intelligence, and investment diligence. He is driven by building practical, data-informed systems that bring rigor and clarity to real-world decisions. Away from his keyword, you can see Evan hiking the Appalachians or out line dancing.
I love seeing data at scale tell a story. When information from many different sources comes together, patterns start to emerge that you would never see in isolation. Those patterns help explain what is really happening over time. Being able to connect early signals to later outcomes, and watch that story develop from first engagement through growth and exit, is what keeps me excited about the work. What first grabbed my attention wasn't finance but the feeling of watching disconnected pieces of information snap into a story. I'm drawn to seeing patterns emerge at scale that someone would never catch in isolation, the kind of signals that explain what's really happening over time. That instinct is what led me to PeakSpan, where the questions sit at the intersection of technology and investing and the answers rarely come prepackaged.
One meaningful moment was helping create Anna, our internal Slack bot that brings together insights from multiple internal systems. I worked on designing how Anna pulls and connects data from sources like ADA, Dewey, our CRM, and other internal tools, so that information that was previously scattered could be accessed in one place. The goal was to turn raw data into insights that people could actually act on in their day-to-day work. When the first feature launched, it immediately changed how the finance team organized and accessed information, reducing manual work and making key insights easier to find. That shift improved clarity and consistency across workflows and helped the team move faster with better context.
PeakSpan is the right place for me because it gives me the space to be creative while working on problems that drive real impact. As a member of the tech team, I have the privilege of looking at our data from a macro perspective, which allows me to spot patterns and connections that are easy to miss when working closer to individual deals or systems. That broader view helps me turn scattered signals into useful direction for the team. I also benefit a lot from the guidance of our internal tech ambassador group and the close, day-to-day connection we have with the finance team, which makes it easy to ideate, iterate quickly, and build products that drive high impact.
I add the most value by helping turn complex data and technical work into insights that teams and portfolio companies can actually use. A big part of that is our patented sentiment analysis, where I help interpret and explain signals around market perception, customer narrative, and competitive positioning in a way that’s easy to act on. I also contribute to competitive analysis that goes deep into media presence and narrative shifts, helping teams understand how companies are perceived over time.
If someone worked closely with me for a year, they would say I bring a strong entrepreneurial spirit to the tech team. I’m especially good at building solutions that are tightly aligned with real needs from the finance team and evolving those tools as we learn more. I naturally think about both the technical and business sides at the same time, which helps us choose approaches that are effective in practice, not just in theory. Given that we are a close team, we are able to prototype quickly, incorporate feedback, and keep momentum as ideas turn into working systems.
